If you are on Instagram I’m sure you’ll have heard about the Spring Flower Community Blanket. The blanket was the idea of Heather, from The Patchwork Heart. She invited 120 volunteers from the Instagram Crochet Community to make a crochet flower square each and to send them to her to be made into this beautiful masterpiece of a blanket.
I’ve been a fan of Heather’s crochet for a very long time. She puts together beautiful colour combinations and seems to be able to whip up a blanket at super speed. She had a mammoth task combining the squares and adding a border to this blanket and as usual she’s achieved a stunning result.
Heather set us a size guideline and colour palette to work from. This is my little square – although I did alter the final round before sending it off to Heather.
I can’t imagine how exciting it must have been to receive such happy mail in the post each day that the squares arrived.
The names of the 120 contributors were put into a draw with the winner being able to do as they wish with the finished blanket.
Kathryn of Crafternoon Treats won the blanket and she has made the fantastic decision to run another draw for the blanket. The draw is open worldwide and entry is a £2 donation to Marie Curie Cancer Care via this Just Giving page. You can donate more than £2 if you wish – each £2 you donate gets you a draw entry. In the first 72 hours the draw raised £2800!
The draw is open until 23 April 2015. And the winner gets the blanket! How awesome is that?
Thank you so much for taking part and for sharing the community blanket. It has been a wonderful experience working together as a community and it is so exciting now the blanket is working hard for Marie Curie Cancer Care

Thank you for thinking up such a brilliant idea Heather and inviting so many people to take part. It’s amazing to think that our little crochet squares – and a huge amount of time and effort on your part – are raising so much money for such a worthwhile charity x
